I stumbled across a soon to be favorite term of mine tonight while taking the obligatory study break from Music History.  "Serial nice guy."

It's from a book called About A Boy, by Nick Hornby.  For those of you that are unacquainted, he wrote High Fidelity which was adapted, rather faithfully, into a movie of the same name.  I can't tell you from the context what he means becuse I have yet to read it.  I just saw the review on Amazon.  But what I lack in textual knowledge, I can make up in imagination, right?

I think I am a serial nice guy.  Though the world tells me that's a good thing, I don't quite agree.  Perhaps you know of one or more of the following: "Always the brides maid..."; the gay friend; sweet.  Yes, I am afraid to say that this falls in line with the previously mentioned terms of not quite endearment.

You see, I have this problem.  People like me.  And more specifically in this case, people of the opposte gender.  I'm that guy.  You know the type.  They want to talk to you about their guy problems and watch You've Got Mail all the time.  Hey, they're my friends; no problem.  Well, ok, one.  They're all my friends.  For some reason or another, I am just too nice to date.  Sure we go out and eat dinner or watch the aforementioned You've Got Mail, and do any other of the myriad of activities that comprise the Lexicon of Dating.  I'm sure any number of people that see us out assume the best.  But none of this is actually a date.

I am the gay friend.  I am the big brother.  I'm sweet.  I'm also unattached.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm not looking at, nor am I interested in every female friend that crosses my way.  But there have been several to catch my eye.  And they never knew the better.

I'll finsih this later.  I have to study some more

I'm in love, never been so sure of anything
Then again, could be a tumor in my brain
Tricking me into thinking that we were meant to be
...
with a sign, says 'I will work for love advice'
'Cause I will mow your lawn
if you tell me what I’m doing wrong

Classes are running along smoothly.  I'm pretty busy right now, but I've got no room to complain because I'm busying myself with things I enjoy.  As it stands now, I have three classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.  I'm also taking voice and piano lessons through the school as well as guitar lessons from my boss at the music store.  Some days will be pretty hectic, but I don't mind too much.  Hope all is well with you

Love,
Daniel
